A GREEN BREAK

Life is hard, in a fast-paced world. As the city engulfs me and makes me restless, I take a break and go to a place where life is simple and beautiful.  Amidst the greenery that I long for in the concrete jungle of the city, I feel alive. 


Usually, the children are the ones who know the art of simplicity and being happy with the little things. I love spending time with them or watching them from distance, playing, giggling and enjoying life in the purest forms.



Well, it’s a Sunday morning, no office for me and hence I decided to make my day useful. Woke up early in the morning and went to a village nearby called Gourdaha, it is in south 24pgs and is very close to Kolkata.


On reaching there, I could feel the difference, the freshness in the air, the clear sky and greenery all around… Yes, this is going to be a good day!


As I went towards the interior of the village I saw children playing and their innocent smiles and laughter made my day cheerful.  





I even tried fishing though did not end up catching any fish but my little friend did and happily, he bragged!



Truly, finding joy in every little thing in life is an art and can be best taught by these little kids. I did not even realize how time flew and at the end had to bid goodbye to my little friends and head back home to the concrete jungle with a pocket full of memories, that will keep me going and keep me craving for new destinations.

There is no better start to a day than to wake up in the morning with the sound of raindrops falling on your window pane. Yes, the monsoon has arrived, the grey sky, the muddy patches in the street, the long traffic jam and Rabindra sangeet over a cup of tea and fritters. You can literally smell monsoon. Makaibari Tea Estate: Wonderful People amidst the Wonderful Nature

And the journey begins with tons of excitement and a belief to discover a new place and meet new people. The engine of our car roared as it made its way through the foggy roads from Siliguri to Kurseong’s Makaibari Tea Estate. It was a splendid experience amidst the unpredictable weather. Thanks to ‘BABA’ for planning the stay at Makaibari Tea Estate. It was really a memorable one. “With arms wide open”, they welcome their guests, so were we. No not guests, we became a part of their family on the first day of our stay in Makaibari. Pranay (in the picture) the owner of the homestay had been our guide and our friend during our stay at his place. He won over our hearts with his cheerful behaviour and we found a home far away from home. We reached in the afternoon travelling through the steep curves and the hairpin bends.   A small hilly town on the lap of nature in the foothills of Himalaya. Kalimpong!  Around 2hrs drive from Siliguri, Kalimpong has a lot to offer and is a popular attraction among the visitors. The lovely view of Kanchenjunga, Monasteries, heritage buildings but most importantly  flower nurseries. The one  I visited  is famous for its exotic collection of rare cactus plants.
